Whilst of little value against advanced fighters and bombers, seaplanes were sometimes effective in chasing off or shooting down reconnaissance aircraft and at spotting surfaced Submarines. Seaplanes were unlikely to be able to sink a Submarine but could drive it underwater, allowing a convoy to outrun the threat. Contains
