This hei toki was carved by Alex Sands from pipiwharauroa fading into inanga pounamu sourced from Arahura of  Te Wai Pounamu

using authentic pounamu (New Zealand greenstone)

Manaia Pounamu Sculpture - Mike Matchitt Peter Mitchell and the acquisition of knowledgeMatau Manaia are contemporary forms that personify Tangaroa, the guardian over all living creatures in ng puna wai (water sources). This piece was carved and polished with a satin finish and measures 18 x 7. 5 cm. It sits on a native timber and brass base and features a beautiful pua shell inlaid eyes. This piece was hand carved by Mike Matchitt.
