Traditionally made from pounamu adzes or similar tools that were too worn down to be functional, they were gifted as a way of remembering the history and tpuna (ancestors). They remind us of our humanity, and our ability to overcome adversity even when the path is spiritually difficult. This roimata was carved by Alex Sands from kkopu pounamu sourced from Arahura
