First listed in 1898 by Yokohama Nursery in Japan, 'Oshio beni' translates as "large red tide" which describes this Japanese maple fairly well. This red Japanese maple selection leafs as a bright red changing to orange red. This orange red is very unique for the red uprights and makes this selection stand
